Student
affairs professionals are required to possess a professional skill set that can
be adaptable to various environments, populations, and desired outcomes.
Whether in meetings that are predominantly oriented towards student
interaction, a single department, or focused on the mission and vision of the
higher education institution at large, student affairs professionals must
possess skill and discernment in distinguishing different settings and
expectations.
Identify
different aspects of professional competency of a student affairs professional.
Create
a graphic organizer demonstrating the similarities and differences and address
the following:
The meetings (2-3 meetings) student
affairs professionals would conduct and who would attend, the meeting’s
purpose, and a desired outcome.
The professional traits needed in
each meeting.
The critical thinking or
problem-solving skills that would need to be involved or should be
involved as a part of the meeting.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing
is expected.
